Your colleagues are struggling. A 2023 poll found, in fact, that nearly 60% of Americans say the past year has been the most stressful of their entire lives. They’re stressed about finances, about their mental and physical health, and about the state of the world. Some are stressed because something horrible is happening in their lives: A cancer diagnosis. A suicide. A relapse.
The way we respond to those who are struggling will have a long-term impact on their well-being, on our relationship with them, and ultimately on our organization’s success. So: will you choose to overlook the coworker who’s uncharacteristically late to work three days in a row? Will you stammer a brief, “sorry for your loss” to the teammate whose spouse died? Or will you offer compassion and support?
I promise it’s easier than you think. I can teach you how. Join me on December 8th for a free webinar where I’ll go over the five steps to a compassionate response to trauma on the job, and also talk about why our responses matter.
I hope you’ll join me.
