I’ve thinking a lot lately about joy. I wrote an article this week about protecting yourself from leadership fatigue, and since then have heard from so many of you who are struggling—trying to support your teams through uncertainty, upheaval, and tragedy.

It’s a lot. And it’s hard to know when it’ll end—if it’ll end. Maybe this is how it is now.

So then, we have to ask, how do I keep going?

One morning this week, I showed my teen son that scene in Anchorman where the news teams battle each other. I laughed so hard I wept. It was a little shot of joy, and I felt so much lighter and stronger afterward.

We have to grab those moments when they come, and create them when they don’t, if we’re going to be able to keep going through the hard times. So I got some silly shoes this week—impractical, unnecessary, but so fun. As I made dinner one night, I listened to Jump Around by House of Pain and danced in the kitchen.

I hope you grab some of those moments today. Seek them out, create them. Find the joy and amplify it.
