I recently got to listen to potential readers for the audiobook version of The Empathetic Workplace. It was so fun! I love audiobooks; I listen on walks, while doing dishes, in the car. I am particularly partial to books where the narrator has an accent that is not American–I’m a sucker for the Irish of Tana French’s Dublin Murder Squad books, especially Faithful Place; for Kate Morton’s sweeping British and Australian family dramas; for the epic world-building and Nigerian myth of Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone series; and for the lovely German of Marcus Zusak’s The Book Thief. I also love to hear funny authors read their own work. I listened to David Sedaris’s Calypso while on a run and had to stop because I was laughing so hard I keep falling over. Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime is another that had me laughing so hard I cried.
I’m always on the lookout for new audiobooks. Do you have ones you like? Drop them in the comments!
